Drones have proliferated in the market for consumer and prosumer applications. Unfortunately, some drones are being used for nefarious purposes. Critical technology infrastructure, military bases, public buildings, sport stadiums, power stations, offshore oil & gas platforms and political leaders are all vulnerable to drone attacks. Pirates have used drones to surveil ships and seaports and Transnational Criminal Organizations use drones extensively for transporting contraband into prisons and across the US border. ISIS have already used drones to launch attacks against civilian and military targets in the Middle East, so the threat is real and should not be under-estimated.
MESMER® will prevent drones from physically harming people, damaging and disrupting critical infrastructure, and stealing intellectual property.
The MESMER® platform offers significant benefits over standard electronic mitigation approaches. One reason is protocol manipulation does not attempt to overpower signals like jammers. As such protocol manipulation is inherently low-power and has low interference with existing signals in the environment. MESMER® can be operated below 1 Watt and within the US regulatory (FCC) constraints. Furthermore, MESMER® is primarily a software defined solution that easily scales and adapts to different needs and integrates with existing hardware installations, enabling quick deployment for a wide range of CONOPS.
MESMER®’s software defined nature also gives it other benefits. Perhaps the most important of these is its flexibility. Unlike purpose built hardware solutions designed for a specific series of scenarios, MESMER™ was designed with the idea in mind that threats, constraints, as well as user needs will constantly change and evolve. As such, MESMER®’S design and use of protocol manipulation is suitable for even the most complex requirements.
D13’s MESMER® Counter Drone System, represented in the image on the right, is a unique, patented, low power, non-jamming, non-line of sight, non-kinetic drone mitigation solution. MESMER® provides a safe and effective method of protecting personnel and infrastructure from dangerous drones. The key differentiator for MESMER® is its ability to manipulate weaknesses in all digital radio protocols. This allows MESMER® to put into effect sophisticated automated detection and mitigation strategies to stop, redirect, land or take control of drones across a range of national security and defense scenarios. The patented technology is built on open source software architecture, which ensures that MESMER® can be seamlessly integrated into existing security and surveillance systems.
D13’s MESMER® Counter Drone System, generic report detailing Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) activity within detection range of an emplaced Mesmer® system at an undisclosed location – Site X. The numbers contained within this report are based on live data that has been obtained by a permanent installation of Mesmer® at a site of critical infrastructure. It details the number of detections and drone types that were operating in the vicinity of the emplaced system during a one-week period. The report contains data from the detections taken during the period, as well as data correlated over the entire deployment of the system to date. Since the last report, the Mesmer® system has had no downtime and has been remotely monitored daily for activity by customer staff. All data collected is from live tracks and does not include any test data for this reporting period.
